of Teamsters
Welcome to the website of the Inter-Local Pension Fund of the
Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood
of Teamsters.
About
the Fund...
The Inter-Local Pension Fund is a unique pension plan, available only to members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The Inter-Local Pension Fund began in 1950, when five local unions joined together to provide pension benefits for their members. Today, the Inter-Local Pension Fund has more than $1.5 billion in assets, pays benefits to more than 20,000 retired GCC/IBT members, and has more than 12,500 active participants in more than 68 GCC/IBT local unions.
The Inter-Local Pension Fund is NOT an employer fund. No employer contributes to it. No employer participates in its administration. The fund benefits are not negotiated with any employer. Instead, the Inter-Local Pension Fund is a retirement fund funded directly by participating members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The Fund is administered by a Board of Trustees who are the elected presidents of the larger IBT Local Unions and/or principal officers of District Councils. All contributions and investment earnings are dedicated exclusively to pay pensions to participants and related administrative expenses.
IBT members must belong to a participating local in the Inter-Local Pension Fund in order to begin their participation in the Fund. Any IBT local union can become a participating local union in the Fund, by a vote of the local membership and approved by the Trustees.
The Trustees of the Inter-Local Pension Fund also administer
benefits paid by the former Photoengravers Pension Fund and Plan
and the former Pension Fund of Local One, Amalgamated
Lithographers of America. Information concerning those plans
are available in the Inter-Local Pension Fund's Summary Plan
Description, which can be obtained fro the Fund office.
The information on this website is designed to assist the
participants in the Fund and IBT Local Unions and members who are
considering participation. Official information concerning
the operation and benefits provided by the Fund can be found only
in the Fund's Trust Indenture and Summary Plan Description, which
is available upon request from the Fund office. |
